Researchers in a wide range of business management studies, particularly hospitality and tourism research are frequently involved in the development and revision of multiple-item measuring instruments, including scales and subscales. To a substantial degree, the quality of these instruments determines the extent to which the analyses and statistical efforts produce trustworthy results. To this end, Dr. Babak Taheri will talk about the different steps of scale development process.

Dr. Babak is an Associate Professor of Marketing in Business Management Department at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland. Babak’s research has a dual focus: ‘consumer behavior’ and ‘marketing management’ with a particular interest in “tourism, hospitality and heritage” areas. Over the years, Babak has had over 80 academic publications. He is the deputy chair of tourism marketing special interest group in Academy of Marketing, UK. He is currently severing as associate editor and editorial review board of key journals in the field including: The Service Industries Journal, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management and Tourism Management Perspectives. He is also currently editing two special issues for The Service Industries Journal and International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management. Babak has also secured over £2.5m in funding. From a teaching and learning perspective, he has taught at different university levels including BSc, MSc, MBA and MRes. He uses interactive, experiential and engaging learning methods in his teaching.
