In the first part of this panel, we will discuss experimental research design. Each panelist is having experience in a distinct academic discipline (Psychology, Marketing, and Hospitality Management) and will offer an intrudction about experimental design in their discipline, followed by a presentation of their studies conducted using experimental research design. The second part of the panel will cover Q&A session as well as a general discussion about how to successfully conduct experimental research.

Dr. Faizan Ali - Moderator

Dr. Faizan Ali received his Ph.D. in Marketing with a dissertation written on customer experience in the hospitality industry at the International Business School, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM-IBS) in June 2015. Dr. Ali also holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Information Technology [BBA-IT (Hons)] with distinction from Institute of Management Sciences, University of Peshawar, Pakistan, and a Masters in Management with a dissertation on consumer behavior in airline industry from Glyndwr University, United Kingdom.
Dr. Ali’s research interests are in the areas of customer experience, service performance, and quality, customer satisfaction, and behavior.

Dr. Jay L. Michaels - Panelist

Dr. Jay Michaels has a background in experimental, quantitative social psychology. He has carried out experimental research pertaining to human conflict, self-esteem, and self-regulatory processes. His research has appeared in 7 peer-reviewed journal articles, 6 academic chapters, and 50 conference presentations predominantly at the national or international level. In addition to experimental design, he has expertise in inferential statistics, statistical models, time-series analysis, and computational models.

Dr. Lawrence Hoc Nang Fong - Panelist

Lawrence Hoc Nang Fong, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of International Integrated Resort Management at the University of Macau. He obtained his PhD in Hotel and Tourism Management from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interests include social media marketing, cognitive bias in gambling, tourism impacts, and others. His research was published by internationally renowned tourism, hospitality, and gambling journals including Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Travel Research, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Cornell Hospitality Quarterly, Journal of Gambling Studies, and others. He is currently the book review editor of Information Technology & Tourism and co-editing a special issue entitled “Experimental Research in Tourism” in the Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research.

Dr. Sarah Lefebvre - Panelist

Dr. Sarah Lefebvre is an assistant professor of marketing at Murray State University. Her research focuses on sensory aspects of food and beverage products, emerging food trends, and health and wellness. Dr. Lefebvre’s research has been published in the Journal of Business Research, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Food Quality and Preference, and Journal of Consumer Marketing. She received her Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Central Florida, holds a Masters of Medical Science in Human Nutrition from the University of Sheffield and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
