PATRICK J. MOREO
Global Education Leadership Award
Patrick J. Moreo Global Education Leadership Award honors the contributions of an educator to international education leadership on a global scale. The Awardee will have had a lengthy commitment to the field as demonstrated by leadership positions in, and significant contributions to, organizations that foster global educational leadership.
Dr. Patrick J. Moreo has been an educational leader for more than 25 years, serving in positions at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, University of Nevada Las Vegas, Oklahoma State University, New Mexico State University and Penn State University. He is currently serving as the Dean of the College of Hospitality and Tourism Leadership at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee. Dr. Moreo is dedicated to internationalizing education at the student and faculty level. In his tenure, he has created and continues to create numerous global programs for students that reach beyond the classroom. He is also a mentor, guide, and advisor to many doctoral students from around the world. This award was created to honor his excellence and dedication to global education.
NOMINATION CRITERIA
To be considered for the Patrick J. Moreo Award, a nominee must have at least 15 years of experience in international education, an appreciable portion of which should be in policymaking positions in organizations or institutions with a recognized role in international educational leadership. The award is open to international educators worldwide. Nominees need not be ANAHEI members.
Nominees must have made documented contributions in the following areas:

Fostering collaborative relationships among individuals and organizations globally, leading to greater opportunities for educational exchange participants or practitioners

Conceptualizing, initiating, and managing international education programs of a significant scale

Helping practitioners with diverse ideas and approaches to reach agreement on new or improved international education programs

Mentoring of younger professionals, helping them advance in their careers in international education
-
Acknowledgment by peers as an important contributor to transformational program and policy development in the field of international educational exchange
NOMINATION PROCEDURES
The primary nominator does not need to be an ANAHEI member. Nominations must present clear evidence of the nominee's achievements in the areas mentioned above.
Nominations may be supported by additional letters, addressing a perspective on the nominee’s accomplishments.

ANAHEI
Research Leadership Award
ANAHEI Research Leadership Award honors the contributions of an educator to research in the field of global issues and/or education. The Awardee will have had a lengthy commitment to the field as demonstrated by research publications in global issues and/or education.
NOMINATION CRITERIA
To be considered for Research Leadership Award, a nominee must have an established research track in the field of global issue and/or education. The award is open to international educators worldwide. Nominees need not be ANAHEI members.
Nominees must have made documented contributions in the following areas:

Conducting, publishing research that focuses on global issues and education.

Leadership activities in research in global issues and/or education (e.g. editing a journal, serving on editorial boards, serving on scientific committees of global conferences)
-
Disseminating his/her research in international outlets, therefore, allowing his/her research to impact our society.

Mentoring of graduate students, helping them advance in their research careers in international education
-
Acknowledgment by peers as an important contributor to research in global issues and/or education.

WAYNNE B. JAMES
Outstanding Dissertation Award
Waynne B. James Outstanding Dissertation Award honors an individual whose dissertation makes an outstanding contribution to the field of global education. The winners will be featured at the Global Conference on Education and Research. Self-nominations are welcome! The student will be the recipient of the award.
Dr. Waynne B. James, a professor and member of the graduate faculty at the University of South Florida. She has chaired more than 150 PhD students during her career. She has worked with a variety of individuals relating to adult learning styles, learning styles assessment, project evaluation, school improvement, staff development, and curriculum development, among others. She continues to work closely with a large number of doctoral students. Her primary areas of interest include adult learning and development, learning styles, history of the field of adult education, international adult education, and competency- based curriculum development viewed from a cross-cultural focus.
NOMINATION CRITERIA

The paper must be based on a doctoral dissertation successfully defended within the past two years.

The dissertation topic must be related to global education.

Make an interesting contribution to advancing new ideas or new frameworks of thinking in the field of global education.

Strongly incorporate relevant theoretical and empirical literature.

Demonstrate appropriate analysis and interpretation of the research results.
-
Offer interesting (and warranted) inferences regarding the theoretical and applied implications of the findings and suggest promising directions for future research.

Logically, succinctly, and clearly present the ideas.
The following guidelines will be used to ensure consistent submissions by candidates. Submissions that are not in accordance with these guidelines will not be reviewed.
Submissions can be in the form of submitted dissertation (PDF copy) or a published article from the dissertation (PDF along with all publication citation). Proof that the dissertation is accepted by the nominee's university (a direct link to the dissertation from the nominee's university library will be accepted as a proof). The candidate must submit a copy of his/her curriculum vitae (CV). Candidates should submit all materials.
